Artuš Scheiner foi um ilustrador auto-didata que começou a desenhar como hobby. Nasceu em 1863 em Benešov, na República Checa, e morreu em 1938, em Praga.
Em uma exibição infantil na biblioteca de Cotsen, Scheiner é chamado de "um artista boêmio prolífico, cujo trabalho foi amplamente divulgado na Checoslováquia e na Áustria". Inicialmente ilustrava revistas na Áustria, Alemanha e Hungria, foi somente em 1902 que lançou seu primeiro livro de contos ilustrado.
"All at once, she saw little stars falling in her path way. She wanted to see what they looked like. They were yellow, bright and shining. She began to gather them up in her hands, tossing them up and down. "Oh, if I only had an apron!" Why there was an apron! Then she collected the little yellow stars in her apron, and growing very tired, fell asleep."
